Maile Fitzgerald

Maile Fitzgerald grew up in Maine, beginning her training at the Drouin Dance Center and Portland Ballet. To help guide her early classical foundation, she trained privately with Daniela Sabbath. At the age of 12, she moved away from home to join the Pre-Professional Day Program at International Ballet Academy (IBA) in Cary, North Carolina, training under the direct mentorship of Nadia Pavlenko, Maxim Ponomarenko, Hong Yang, and Emma Frenette. During her training, she earned full-merit scholarships to attend summer intensives at Tulsa Ballet, Charlotte Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and Ballet Austin.

At the age of 16, Maile joined the Charlotte Ballet trainee program, led by Laszlo Berdo and Kati Mayo. She performed in company productions including Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux’s The Nutcracker and Ib Andersen’s Swan Lake. As a trainee, she also had the privilege of performing George Balanchine’s Who Cares?, coached directly by Patricia McBride.

For the 2024-25 season, she trained with the Professional Training Division (PTD) at the Cincinnati Ballet on a full-merit scholarship, directed by David Morse. She performed with the main company in Devon Carney’s Giselle, Victoria Morgan’s The Nutcracker, Septime Webre’s The Wizard of Oz, and Pamela Robinson Harris’ Snow White. Within the PTD program, she had the opportunity to perform the lead roles in Coppélia, Paquita, and George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco staged by Zippora Karz.

In 2025, Maile joined Sacramento Ballet’s Second Company as an SB2 Dancer, directed by Jill Krutzkamp and Rhodes Elliott. She performed in The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, and George Balanchine’s Serenade alongside the main company. In the summer of 2026, she performed as a guest artist at the Boys Ballet Summer Intensive 10th Anniversary Gala, Beyond: The BBSI Experience. Maile is excited to join Sacramento Ballet as an Apprentice for the 2026/2027 season.
