Under the direction of acclaimed dancer Jill Krutzkamp, Sacramento Ballet’s Second Company launched in 2022. The Second Company consists of Trainee Project and SB2 artists. Trainee Project dancers are tuition-based and Sacramento Ballet awards SB2 dancers a full-year scholarship with a stipend.

SBSC provides elite-level training in an inspiring, supportive and creative atmosphere, aiming to help dancers grow and gain the skills and confidence necessary for a career in professional dance.

Our program focuses on preparation for the daily life and expectations of a professional ballet company by refining dancers’ technique, performance, and collaboration skills. As a proving ground for pre-professional training, we select distinctive programming and repertoire for our Second Company which is rehearsed and performed throughout the year, in addition to performance opportunities within Sacramento Ballet main company productions.

Second Company training classes include Ballet Technique, Pointe, Variations, Men’s Class, Pas de Deux, and dance-specific conditioning classes. Additionally, we prioritize holistic support for Second Company members though workshops in behavioral health and wellbeing, in addition tocareer development assistance with professional coaches and our experienced staff.

SBSC instructors include former professional dancers, choreographers, teachers, and leaders within the dance field who have committed themselves to training the next generation of dancers.

Dancers join our Second Company by audition.
