Sacramento’s favorite holiday tradition comes to the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center in a specially adapted, sensory-friendly performance, offering all the magic of Nutcracker in a welcoming, comfortable environment for guests with neurodivergence, sensory sensitivities, or other social, learning, or cognitive disabilities.
When Clara receives a mysterious nutcracker on Christmas Eve, she’s swept into a world of wonder, adventure, and dazzling dance, brought to life by more than 250 young dancers sharing the stage with Sacramento Ballet’s professional company. This sensory-friendly performance runs the same full length as all other Nutcracker performances, so families can enjoy the complete experience at their own pace.
To help create a comfortable space for every guest, this performance includes:
- Lower sound levels, especially for startling or loud sounds
- Theater lights remaining dimly lit throughout
- Reduced strobe lighting and audience-facing effects
- Freedom to talk or move around as needed
- Designated quiet areas within the theater
- Extra space for standing and movement
- Blocked seating groups available for additional space
- Personal devices welcome
