About SBSC

Launched in 2022, Sacramento Ballet’s prestigious Second Company is directed by Rhodes Elliott and supported by an exceptional faculty of SBSC instructors. Comprised of former professional dancers, choreographers, educators, and leaders in the field, the team is deeply committed to nurturing and training the next generation of artists.
The Second Company consists of two tiers:
- SB2 dancers who are awarded a full year scholarship, and a stipend rom the Sacramento Ballet
- Trainee Program Dancers who are tuition based.
SBSC provides elite-level training in an inspiring, supportive and creative atmosphere, aiming to help dancers grow and gain the skills and confidence necessary for a career in professional dance.
Our program focuses on preparation for the daily life and expectations of a professional ballet company by refining dancers’ technique, performance, and collaboration skills. As a proving ground for pre-professional training, we select distinctive programming and repertoire for our Second Company which is rehearsed and performed throughout the year, in addition to performance opportunities within Sacramento Ballet main company productions.
Second Company training classes include Ballet Technique, Pointe, Variations, Men’s Class, Pas de Deux, Contemporary, and dance-specific conditioning classes. Additionally, we prioritize holistic support for Second Company members though workshops in behavioral health and wellbeing, in addition to career development assistance with professional coaches and our experienced staff.
Dancers join our Second Company by audition.
