Every December, Sacramento Ballet’s Nutcracker fills the stage at SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center with over 250 young dancers, live music from the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera, and the kind of holiday magic this city has come to know and love. It is the largest production of its kind in the region, and it would not be possible without the young performers who bring it to life each year.

Auditions for the 2026 production will be held August 29 and 30, open to dancers ages 7 to 18. This is a professional production staged by a professional company, and dancers who join the cast can expect a rehearsal schedule and level of commitment to match. In return, they will gain real stage experience, work alongside Sacramento Ballet’s company artists, and become part of a Sacramento holiday tradition that has been passed down for generations.

1:00 pm – Sign-in begins

1:30 pm – Auditions Start

Sunday, August 30th

Youth 12 & under, height 4’7.1” & above

10:00 am – Sign-in begins

10:30 am – Auditions Start

Youth 13 and up, 5’3” and under

11:45 pm – Sign-in begins

12:15 pm – Warm-up class

1:00 pm – Auditions start

Youth 13 and up, 5’3.1 and above

1:30 pm – Sign-in begins

2:00 pm – Warm-up class

2:45 pm – Audition start
