Sacramento Ballet Youth Ensemble consists of young artists representing the advanced levels of the Sacramento Ballet School. Its mission is to facilitate the pursuit of dance at the collegiate level or a professional career. The ensemble is chosen through an audition process. Dancers must exhibit exemplary technique, artistry, attendance, and a positive attitude. Students commit to train an increased number of hours, including rehearsals and performance opportunities.
SBYE’s training program is designed to build technique and confidence, while fostering artistic development and awareness. An integral part of that development is a range of performance experiences– including performing with the Sacramento Ballet in a variety of productions.
SBYE is a member of Regional Dance America/ Pacific. Sacramento Ballet Youth Ensemble’s participation in RDA Festivals allows them the opportunity to challenge themselves while they learn and grow from performing alongside their peer organizations. The nurturing testing ground provided by RDA for new choreographers is exciting for students, company members, and directors, including receiving valuable feedback from excellent adjudicators and guest teachers.
SBYE is directed by Maia Wilkins, the current principal of the Sacramento Ballet School.
