Innovations is a remarkable bill of in-demand works. SacBallet’s time honored connection with The George Balanchine Trust continues with Apollo created by George Balanchine at age 24. Set to the music of Igor Stravinsky, Apollo achieved international recognition for the choreographer and began his lifelong partnership with the composer. Balanchine considered Apollo to be his artistic coming of age.

Innovations also presents Val Caniparoli’s Ibsen’s House ballet, which weaves a story around five female characters extracted from Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen’s plays plus a world premiere from Louisville Ballet’s resident choreographer Andrea Schermoly, known for her innovative reimagining of classic works including Martha Graham’s Appalachian Spring and a new twist on Romeo & Juliet for Royal New Zealand Ballet.
