Mary MacFarlane

Mary MacFarlane

Mary MacFarlane has had a passion for the arts, particularly dance, that began with her love of ballet as far back as she can remember. She studied dance—ballet, tap, and jazz—from ages 5 to 18. Then she attended summer classes at the Boston Conservatory.

She was inspired to join the Sacramento Ballet Board after attending performances of Romeo and Juliet and Visions in the 2024/25 season. She wanted to support this ballet organization that had such talented, world-class dancers, beautiful choreography, and artistic excellence. Mary feels honored to contribute to this incredible ballet company and school.

Mary is a professional fundraiser who has worked with nonprofit organizations for more than 20 years in Boston and New York, with a focus on the performing arts—the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Conservatory at Berklee School of Music, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York City Opera, and Plimoth Patuxet Museums (a living American History Museum in Massachusetts).

Mary has a B.A. from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and a Certificate in Professional Fundraising from Boston University. In her spare time, she volunteers for the Sacramento Chrysanthemum Society, enjoys classical music, and takes classes in clay art and ceramics.
